Michael began his financial career in the taxation group at Ernst & Young’s San Diego office. While working in public accounting, Michael worked on various partnership and corporate tax projects throughout Southern California. Michael’s specialties as a CPA focus on personal and business tax compliance (tax return preparation and filings), financial modeling and real estate analysis. Michael’s undergraduate degree is in both finance and accounting, and he holds a Master’s in Taxation from Texas Christian University.

His broad experience and expertise across financial services, retirement, tax and estate planning allow him to implement a strategy that adjusts to the ever-changing tax and regulatory environment while emphasizing growth and preservation of assets for charitable and generational wealth goals.
Prior to co-founding Copper Crest Capital, Mason provided financial and accounting services for Ernst & Young (EY), one of largest global financial services companies in the world. Mason is an SEC Registered Investment Advisor Representative and a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds both a master’s of accountancy (MAc) and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University.
David adds depth to the firm’s research and trading, spending the last 15 years as an analyst with Allianz Global Investors before joining Copper Crest Capital. In his most recent role as a director, he managed income and growth portfolios for several funds in the firm’s stable of investments. His fixed income experience includes domestic
David adds depth to the firm’s research and trading, spending the last 15 years as an analyst with Allianz Global Investors before joining Copper Crest Capital. In his most recent role as a director, he managed income and growth portfolios for several funds in the firm’s stable of investments. His fixed income experience includes domestic and foreign bonds, both plain vanilla and exotics like convertible debt and structured product. He provided security selection, trading and research functions for the portfolios he was managing.
Dave’s career started in 1997 with public accounting firms across the country with a focus primarily on business valuation services and financial statements. His experience included time with KPMG LLP and Houlihan Lokey. Dave continues to be involved with financial statement preparation, consulting, forecasting and valuation analyses in addition to investment advisory services.
Jeff has spent the last 30 years directly involved in investment management with significant exposure to most investment products including stocks, bonds, futures, forwards, options, mutual funds, ETPs, other alternatives and insurance-based products. Varying levels of investment advisory services were provided to sizeable portfolios.

Jeff’s career started in 1982 with the public accounting firm of Fox & Company. Shortly thereafter, he was part of converting the Tucson, AZ office to a large, local CPA firm. After 10 years solely in the accounting profession, he re-directed his focus to financial services, becoming the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Financial Officer for several investment advisory firms and a broker/dealers.
His specialties on the CPA side continue to include estate planning, trust accounting, administration and tax compliance, gift and estate tax returns and general business consulting.

Charles began his career building mortgage derivative portfolios, first as the portfolio manager of a regional bank in northern California, and later as part of a boutique investment advisory firm assisting government, commercial and investment banks in the creation and management of multi-billion dollar mortgage securities portfolios. Charles began his career building mortgage derivative portfolios, first as the portfolio manager of a regional bank in northern California, and later as part of a boutique investment advisory firm assisting government, commercial and investment banks in the creation and management of multi-billion dollar mortgage securities portfolios. Charles was also a founding principal of the commodity-trading firm Tucson Asset Management, which traded commodity futures using proprietary algorithms on behalf of institutional and high-net-worth clients. Charles retired in 2016, but continues to actively manage and trade his own portfolio assets, including hedge funds, common stocks, fixed-income securities, and commodity futures accounts.
Scott has been in the insurance business for over 30 years. He started his career with MetLife in 1988 and subsequently worked with them for 13 years. Scott managed the Del Mar, California office of MetLife and later served as Senior Vice President at Willis (Now Willis Towers Watson) before leaving to open his own agency in San Diego, JS

Scott has personally placed over $1 billion of insurance premiums over his career and has worked on some of the largest deals in San Diego. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and has earned a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance.
